2021-22 Season Preview

IPO Announces Our Jubliant Return To The Stage

Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Stilian Kirov, is proud to announce its 2021-2022 season of seven concerts with featured IPO principal musicians and guest artists: violinist Rachel Barton Pine, pianist William Wolfram, and a performance by The Joffrey Academy of Dance, the official school of The Joffrey Ballet. All performances will take place at Ozinga Chapel on the campus of Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights.

“We are thrilled to present this season full of outstanding music, exciting soloists and diverse repertoire,” states IPO Music Director Stilian Kirov. “The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra keeps growing tremendously as we managed not only to survive during the challenging pandemic times but also to thrive and keep bringing music to our audiences. The new season includes many inspiring programs and collaborations with distinguished organizations. We are all looking forward to being back in our concert hall with in-person concerts and sharing unforgettable musical journeys together.”

Christina Salerno, Executive Director of IPO, shares Kirov’s sentiments.

“Music brings people together in shared community. This past season, IPO worked extremely hard to build new relationships across many traditional barriers in classical music – digital, racial, socioeconomic, generational, to name just a few – and we are thrilled to be welcoming people from all backgrounds to join us in a live, jubilant new season starting this October.”

During the 2021-2022 season, IPO will perform six classical concerts and one holiday concert at their home venue: the 1,200 seat Ozinga Chapel at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights. In addition, the orchestra performs a myriad of educational youth offerings each year. In total, IPO reaches over 10,000 individuals in the Chicago Southland, 3,500 of whom are served through Meet-the-Maestro, Artists-in-Schools, Pre-concert Performances, and additional community engagement programs. IPO also performs an annual four concert summer chamber series, IPO Summer @ Olympia Fields Country Club.
