Music Educator of the Year Award

The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra Music Educator of the Year Award recognizes outstanding music educators who teach in public schools, private schools, community programs, or as a private music instructor, from Kindergarten through College.
Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
• Be an educator teaching in the greater Chicagoland, with preference given to those in the southern and southwestern regions.
• Have completed no fewer than four years of teaching prior to the current school year.
• Be actively teaching in a music education position at the time of nomination.
• Have made a measurable difference in the lives of students through music education.
• Have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education.
• Exemplify excellence and innovation in music education.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining and advocating for music education in schools.
• Show evidence of a significant, positive impact on their students’ growth and learning.
• Have made a meaningful and lasting impact on their school and local community through their work in music education.
